Excellent results achieved by ASM Motorsport team in the Corallo Rally (Sardinia), with a victory in the Class D3 and best foreigner team.
Alghero (Sardinia) 09 June 2008 - In their first participation in the Corallo Rally, the ASM Motorsport team has achieved truly remarkable results. The Andorran driver Ferran Font, accompanied by Josep Moreno, with the Ford Escort MK2 RS 2000 Group 2 prepared by ASM Motorsport, finished in the sixth position overall, beating out many clearly superior rival cars.
The fourth event in the European Championship FIA Historic Rally started on Friday, with six tarmac special stages, and a Super Special Stage at Mores Circuit, most disputed under heavy rain. After leg 1 the team ASM Motorsport occupied the seventh place in the overall standings and second in D3 Class, forty seconds behind the Italian’s Opel Kadett GTE Roberto Bigoni.
The second day included six new gravel stages, where Font and Moreno set the third best time in the first special stage of the journey; they reduced the forty seconds with Bigoni and also exceeded him from two and a half minutes at the end of the day, a challenge for the team. The final sixth position, winning the fourth group and also the foreigners class, have been the extraordinary results achieved by Ferran Font and Josep Moreno, at the wheel of the Ford MK2 RS 2000 Group 2 prepared by ASM Motorsport.
